Thursday October 18th, Norway’s Prime Minister informed the King of shifts in the "red-green" government. Erik Solheim (52) from the Socialist Left Party (SV) has become a "super minister". He has been appointed Minister of the Environment while retaining responsibility for development affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 
The City of Eindhoven, a city in the south of The Netherlands will be the first city to turn of the lights at night. Eindhoven has become known because of the light bulb, manufactured at the Philips factories. Eindhoven is also known for its yearly 'light route'. 
The ozonlayer above the Artics is about 30 percent smaller this year then the record size of last year. According to measurements of the ESA satellite 'Envisat' the shortage of ozon is 27,7 million tons this year. Last year this was 40 million tons.
Efforts to limit emissions of greenhouse gases tend to require more wide-reaching practical measures and policy instruments than those needed to deal with other types of pollution. 
Norway's national budget for 2008 is the highest climate budget ever, but the government will soon cover the costs by incomes from oil and gas.
