A third of the Dutch say they buy more durable products. Last year, this was only a quarter of the population. This is investigated by the agency 'Senter Novem' of the economic ministry of The Netherlands. |

Stockholm tried out a system of pay tolls (locally known as "congestion taxes") about a year ago, in order to evaluate the effects on traffic congestion and the environment. It turned out to be a success in that traffic was down significantly and the environment quite possibly improved. The system has now been made permanent. |

The next few years, we’ll see more and more strange bugs in The Netherlands. This is because of the changing climate, says pest control expert “Fred Verseijden”. More and more bugs accidentally come across our country and survive the warm winter. |

Officials of several Ministries have shown that The Netherlands is behind on maintenance regarding the protection against epidemics, floods and computer regulated systems. This is a conclusion of the NOS (Dutch Broadcasting Foundation) after studying reports they received from the Government. |

CO2 emission decreased for the second year in a row |

The emission of CO2 (carbon dioxide) has been decreased for the second year in a row now. Last year, the emission was 208 billion kilo's, of which the major part was CO2. This has been reported today by the "Dutch central bureau for statistics" and the "environment and nature plan bureau". |
