Taking these words in consideration, we needed to start to take some action ourselves. We have chosen to battle climate change through spreading the message that we all can combat climate change. Our mission is to reach as many people as possible with this message and hope to inspire them in ways they can combat climate change their selves.

At the end of ‘an Inconvenient Truth’, Al Gore encourages everyone to do something about global warming. His words are something like, ‘it doesn’t matter what you do as long as you do something’. Inspired by these words, we decided to do our part and battle climate change in the way we know best. Build a website and create awareness for the global warming problem.

If you have not seen ‘an Inconvenient Truth’, we strongly advise you to see the film. Even if you do not believe everything what Al Gore has to say, it will get clear to you that the global warming problem needs everyone’s attention. Something has to change and we need to act now.

In a later stadium we got more and more inspired by discussing our initiative with our friends and relatives. All the positive reactions we received, gave us the confidence that our initiative could become a success. Although some reactions were skeptic none of them were negative. The skeptics are still afraid that our gnomes will get lost and will break contact with us someday during their journey.

Talking, discussing, planning and creating our initiative became more and more a concept. This concept is still growing and has become a dream...

Some say that global warming is caused by humanity and they can proof it. Others say that humanity did not cause global warming at all, we should blame Mother Nature. Our website is not about this discussion.

We do not have, or do not form a opinion about who caused global warming. We just believe that giving climate change the needed attention, awareness can be created that we as humans have a big influence in it and that we can turn it into a positive influence.

When we decided to create a website about traveling gnomes and their mission to spread the combat climate change message, we got very excited that we had found a way to do something positive for the global warming thread.

Since we have launched the website April 1st 2007, what many believed was an april fools day prank, we received lots of positive e-mail reactions, giving us the confidence that WE REALY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Every message needs a messenger!

Gnomes are known for their very small size and subterranean free lifestyle. When we think of gnomes we think of peaceful little people living in a nice green forest, or a serene garden setting where everything finds it's balance. Our messengers are five traveling gnomes and a gnome ambassador. Could you wish a better messenger?

We will use your cash donation to fund our project to reach more people with our message. In the first place we will use your donation to maintain our website.

The internet gives us a platform to other people, throughout the world. We will use a part of the donation resources for advertising campaigns through Adwords from Google. In this way we can increase the traffic to our website and reach even more people with our message.

Later we want to develop merchandising materials. The merchandise will be sold under GnomeDiaries license, and an extensive part of the turnover will be invested in the future foundation so we can start other GnomeDiaries projects. When the donation resources can afford it, we will use the donations to found a foundation.

We believe that the GnomeDiaries logo can become a symbol to express yourself as someone who is climate change aware. Therefore we want to invest a part of the sponsor donations in designing and developing GnomeDiaries merchandise.

The goal of our project is to reach as much people as possible with the message that everybody can battle climate change and do something about global warming.

Driving on our inspiration and what we believe, we know we are one step closer to our goal, a foundation that will run and support different projects to create awareness for servile global problems. If the GnomeDiaries initiative works we intend to create awareness the same way, for other global issues! Our future foundation will run, fund and support different projects to create awareness for servile major global (social) problems.

Creating awareness takes time and much effort. We appreciate any help in this process. Any idea is welcome, so if you have one just let us know. We definitely can not do this alone!
