The city "The Hague" in the Netherlands will be the first Dutch municipal that will use warmth from the ground to heat houses. (Geothermal Heating)

The water from the houses will be circulated from the houses to the ground at a depth of 2500 meters. When the water cools off, this water will be transported to the ground again. The water from 2500 meters deep, has a temperature of 75 degrees.

The Hague will apply this technology for newly built houses and industries.
It is too expensive to apply this to existing buildings. The goal is to make The Hague a CO2 neutral city. This means that it does not contribute to global warming. This is applicable to all partners of the project. They want to improve the durability of the whole energy cycle.

Contributers to this project are building coöperations; HaagWonen, Staedion and Vestia.
Furthermore, the energy companies E-ON Benelux and ENECO Energie.

Geothermal heating: means to make use of the earth-warmth to heat houses, offices or grow-houses.
To realise this technology, a coöperation between the parties is necessary. This way, the houses will be supplied with energy-efficient LTH systems (LTH=Low Temperature Heating, like floor-heating).

This technology is already applied in several countries and has proven its usability.
