Big mission for little men

OSS - The climate changes. The consequences of a warming earth are not small: melting glaciers, extreme weather conditions and a rising sea level. Jeroen van Oosterhout from Oss, Hermen Vorstenbosch from Geffen and Paul van Zoggel from Uden, deploy gnomes to ask attention for this harrowing problem. The gnomes travel around the world and can be followed through the Internet.

Gnomes love nature, are kind and are trustworthy. From that perception the three website builders will let these point hatted earthmen travel around the world. There will be six crafted gnomes in total. Five will roam around the world. They will all get a red pointy hat and a different colored jacket, equal to the colors of the Olympic rings, which stand for solidarity. Number six will become the ambassador of the gnome diaries and goes dressed in a golden jacket and hat.

Gielmobiel
Jeroen, Hermen and Paul will launch the gnomes begin October. The starting point will differ for each gnome. The first one will definitely start his journey in the Netherlands. “The intention is that the gnomes will travel from person A to B and from B to C etcetera. Actually just like the ‘Gielmobiel’ (known form radio 3FM, a mobile phone that travels among well known and celebrity Dutch people, red.) People are not allowed to keep the gnome, he just stays over for a little while. In this period, the host can publish his or her viewpoint about global warming on the Internet through the gnome.” The threesome is not afraid that people will make jokes with the gnomes.” We fully trust that people who stand behind our message will take good care over the gnomes and will not let them get lost.”

Good idea
The design for the GnomeDiaries gnome comes from the hands of the artist Ties Lowes from Oss. ”I find the idea behind it quite good. The problem after all needs immediate attention. Working on this project gives the same time attention for my work. So the knife cuts on both sides.”
