If you enter 'climate change india' at google.nl, you will get hundreds and hundreds of articles about the fact that climate change is accelerated by countries with big numbers of people like India who are not busy with the future at all.
Their motto is: Don't worry, be happy. Also they say, because India is a developing country; the rich west should pay for everything that we need to progress the fight against the bad climate.
India is getting a big slap in the face I guess, because of the increase of bad harvests, heat waves and floods within only 25 years!
At least there is some hope for this country, because we are having someone realizing and fighting for the environment. Maneka Gandhi; environment activist and struggler for animal rights in India tells very honestly that Indian people don't realize that the world is going to look different in 25 till 40 years. India is one of the first countries that will be affected by climate change. A good concept of this is the slowly disappearing of the Sundarban islands.
So how can India improve? By letting people pay more tax on energy? Giving them the knowledge of nuclear energy? If you ask me, this subject is too sophisticated for India to handle. Their first concern will be how to deliver all of this to their 800.000 villages. I guess they should just focus on getting the wind, water and/or solar energy introduced here. It will decrease the Co2 level a lot, but these are just the words of a foreign country girl in India, and in the meantime India doesn't even have an investigation institute for climate change working on it.
